Here we go
Vienna is a city full of history and culture. In every corner you will find something you will love. Maybe it’s the museums or the palaces, maybe it’s the deep connection to music and art, maybe it’s the people who make the city so admirable. Whatever the reason, the capital of Austria has a lot to offer. Also, it is very close to Salzburg, Austria (2.5 hours by train), Bratislava, Slovakia (30 minutes by train) and Budapest, Hungary (3 hours by train). Every time I’ve been there, it was for a short stay and I would always have a next stop to another city.
Eat and Drink
My most recent stay in Vienna was really different from the previous one. This time I had the chance to experience the local cuisine even better. Austria is really famous for its schnitzels and its steaks. The best vegan Pfeffersteak I had was at Veggiezz and it’s made of delicious seitan. After that I headed to Demel for best-in-town pastries and some chocolate. Vienna also has plenty of bars for beers or cocktails. My personal favourite is Kruger’s American Bar.
Things to do
As mentioned above, I strongly recommend to book in advance free entrances. That means that if you want to enter the city hall or the parliament you need to fill an online form to make the booking. Otherwise, it is very common to be fully booked for the day and most probably the next one or two. Another tip I have is for St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Did you know you can enter the catacombs underneath the cathedral? Find the updated tour schedule and be there in advance. Some other museums that must be on your list are: Schönbrunn palace, Belvedere palace, Natural History museum and the Albertina modern art museum. Last but not least, Prater is a gem of its own. Either you can spend half an hour just for the Giant Ferris wheel or all the attractions of the amusement park. The mirror maze was the most fun for me.
