Bratislava in a glimpse

Here we go

Bratislava is a city that is vibrant and perfect for weekend getaways. It is very close to Vienna around 30 minutes, Brno around 1,5 hours and Budapest around 2,5 hours. So I’d suggest getting on a train and start exploring these beautiful cities. For me, next stop was Vienna. I stayed there for 3 days and it was amazing. The city is has definitely preserved its charm. You can find really good cocktail bars and traditional restaurants. Erasmus and international students have contributed to keeping prices at a low level, so you can have fun for cheap.

Eat and Drink

There are plenty of restaurants and spots for food. Slovak Pub is a nice restaurant where you han have a traditional soup and dumplings (limited vegan plates). I really love tasting local cuisine and getting to know Slovakia a bit more. On the other hand, the city is full of bars, cheap, expensive or niche oriented. At Bar On you can find extremely cheap drinks or at Cuba Libre serves as a rum bar but also as a cigar house. My personal favorites were Michalska Cocktail and Casa del Havana. I’ve had some good cocktails ant the vibe at these bars is so cool and chill.

What to do in Bratislava

The Bratislava Castle and St. Martin’s cathedral are places you shouldn’t miss. If you’re into heights, I’d suggest visiting UFO observation deck for a panoramic view of the city and Danube river. At Panská street is an interesting sculpture “Man at work” and nearby at Rybárska brána street is Maximilian’s fountain, a historical landmark. Last but not least, just 12k away is Devin castle which dates back to the middle ages. It may be tricky, but it’s possible to get there by local transport. Oh, and the view is so breathtaking at the observation platform.
