What Tbilisi Really Looks Like: 11 Photos You Won’t Find Online

Are you considering a trip to Tbilisi Georgia, but the photos do not fully persuade you to want to go? Let’s find out the true essence of this beautiful city and what you’re missing out.

Maybe you have found some cheap airplane tickets to Tbilisi or even Kutaisi that is 3h away by bus. Maybe someone told you how marvellous it is, but you don’t believe them. So, you browse online for photos of Tbilisi. And what you mostly see is a small village with nice colorful old buildings. But that’s not the whole picture. Probably, what you’ve already seen is Tbilisi Old Town. And it’s really great. The neighborhoods around there are tranquil and Instagramable for sure.

You can take the cable car that take you above the Old Town. And then you get the full picture. I personally couldn’t believe how big the city is.

On the other side of the city is the Nutsubidze Skybridge, a bridge that connects three Soviet buildings. It’s located in the outskirts of the city. Note that you’ll need a 20 cent lari coin to take the lift.

There is one more cable car that will give you the full picture and that is the Turtle Lake Ropeway. My suggestion is that you take the lift around the golden hour, so that you can experience the sunset and the evening lights of the city. Tbilisi by night is even more mesmerizing.
